Another Audi electronics job completed in Surrey BC. This time, we worked on a 2018 Audi A3 after an accident in which the airbag system had deployed.
The customer had already repaired the vehicle and replaced the required components and safety systems. However, after the repair, two fault codes remained in the vehicle related to the seat belt system:
B130455 — Not Configured
B130555 — Not Configured
The vehicle was otherwise repaired, but these faults could not simply be cleared with a standard scan-tool erase function.
Audi Seat Belt Initialization and Adaptation
In this case, the remaining faults indicated that the replacement seat belt components required proper initialization and adaptation/configuration.
We performed the required procedure for the Audi A3 safety system and completed the adaptation of the seat belts. After the procedure, the vehicle was scanned again and the remaining faults were no longer present.
The Audi A3 was returned to the customer with the system checked and no remaining related fault codes.
Not Every Diagnostic Scanner Can Perform This Procedure
A common situation after an accident repair is that all physical components have been replaced, but the vehicle still reports a Not Configured or similar configuration fault.
Simply clearing DTCs is not always enough. Some Audi SRS and safety-system procedures require specific diagnostic functions for initialization, adaptation, or configuration.
