We received a Polestar 2 2023 SRS Airbag module with a critical internal fault U3000. This error indicates an internal software failure of the SRS control unit, which prevents proper communication with the vehicle network and disables the airbag system.
In most cases, U3000-00 or U3000-01 appears after an incorrect crash data reset attempt. Starting from 2023, Volvo and Polestar significantly changed the SRS module architecture.
Previously, crash data was stored only in EEPROM 95640, but newer Polestar 2 models store critical data in both EEPROM and secured MCU memory (Renesas r7f701330 / r7f701330a). Simply clearing the EEPROM is no longer sufficient and will result in permanent U3000 errors.
This module also contained additional faults:

Our technicians performed advanced SRS module programming, safely removed crash data from all protected memory areas, and fully restored the SRS Airbag module to factory working condition. After repair, all faults were cleared and the system operates correctly.
