What Does C123EF0 Mean?
The C123EF0 fault indicates an internal software or memory-related issue within the ABS/ESC control module. In many cases, the electronic module itself is not physically damaged.
Instead, this fault commonly develops after prolonged problems with the brake vacuum system. When the vacuum system operates incorrectly, abnormal operating conditions can eventually corrupt internal ABS module data, causing the fault to become permanent and impossible to clear using standard diagnostic equipment.
Typical symptoms include:
• Brake system warning messages;
• ABS and ESC warning lights;
• C123EF0 fault that immediately returns after clearing;
• Reduced or disabled stability control functions.
The Traditional Repair
For this fault, manufacturers and dealerships typically recommend replacing the complete ABS hydraulic control unit, followed by coding and programming of the new module.
Because the hydraulic unit and electronic controller are supplied as one assembly, the repair is often extremely expensive—even though the hydraulic components are usually still in perfect working condition.
